So What do you wanna do, What do you wanna do? This isn’t the beginning of Pinkie and the Brain this is the typical nightly question of 20 something year olds, especially when it comes to the weekend, which technically starts on Wednesday for those of us with 3 day work weeks. Here is my answer for this week.
Wednesday: Two really fun events going on one at Kingdom Pre Funk Wednesday’s w/Special Guest Andrew Parsons and Whompadelic Wednesdays at the 606 both featuring bass/dance music. Links to facebook events are embedded so click away. Flyers are below
Join us on our funktastic voyage, setting dance floors on fire and leaving asses in perma-shake mode!! On a gigantic (((BASS MAX))) sound system, we’ll be droppin’ house, retro, nu disco, epic funk and everything in between. So come get that proper dose of funk you’ve been needin’, and let’s get our Pre Funk on before the weekend gets here!
This weeks special guest is:
ANDREW PARSONS (Happy Birthday!)
my favorite part of there facebook event page is the description of Great Scott.
A neuroscientist and electrical engineer by day, Great Scott brings his work home with him and puts these skills to use at night: focusing on writing music that is both emotional, boundary pushing, and filled to the brim with visual imagery. His music and mixes have been featured on esteemed outlets such as BBC Radio 1, BBC Asian Network, Sirius Satellite Radio, and numerous other terrestrial FM and Internet stations. His live sets have been described as magical: never looking to the current trends, but instead always opting to find the true hidden gems that keep the bodies moving
~MiHKAL & Knowa Knowone~ 4.12.12 @ The Parish I’ll be there taking pictures and if you take a look at the flyer a photo I took at the last show with MiHKAL is on the back. MiHKAL (Symbiosis / Street Ritual)
Music. I. Have. Known. And. Loved.
Perfecting the art of audio alchemy, Oakland based dj/producer Michael Anderson Lapp aka MiHKAL is quite possibly one of the westcoast’s best kept secrets. Notorious for his emotionally charged, melodically driven, bass heavy mixes, remixes & live performances, he provides dancers & listeners a sonic vehicle of transformation from which their own creative expressions can emerge.
Knowa Knowone is a Bay Area turntablist/producer and co-owner of the record label Street Ritual. Fans know Knowa as someone who vibes off of his crowd’s energy, raising them to a euphoric and ecstatic state of auditory bliss.
